The tutorial will be divided in two sections. After a brief introduction I will show how to use ThePEG/Pythia7, describing how to make a simple run with simple analysis. I will also show how to add a simple module to the framework.

In the second part I will describe how to write a new physics module, using the specific case of a matrix element as an example.

Both parts will probably be done before lunch, leaving the afternoon session for further discussions.

If you want to follow the tutorial hands-on with your laptop you should in advance download and install the latest version of ThePEG and Pythia7 from their respective web sites: ThePEG and Pythia7.

Also, if you missed my talk yesterday, you probably should take a look at the transparencies.

ThePEG/Pythia7 is now installed on the LXPLUS cluster. To use it you need to add the following directories to your PATH environment

        /usr/local/gcc-alt-3.2.3/bin and /afs/cern.ch/user/l/lonnblad/public/local/bin

In addition you need to add
        /usr/local/gcc-alt-3.2.3/lib
        to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment
