The production of high-intensity and high-density beams has been a constant activity in the PS since many years. The different beam studies which have been performed so far on the bottlenecks of the machine, injection process, low energy flat bottom, transition crossing, and ejection, will be reviewed. The ongoing studies and future activities will also be discussed.
