The speaker will present recent work on radiation effects in microelectronics at JPL. The discussion will be focused on work on advanced memories and microprocessors, as well as concerns that we have about device scaling.
About the speaker:
Allan Johnston is Group Leader of the Space Radiation Effects Lab at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California. Key activities of the JPL radiation Lab include radiation effects on advanced memories and microprocessors, latchup in CMOS devices, transients from heavy ions and protons in linear circuits and optocouplers, displacement damage from protons on linear integrated circuits and optical devices, and total dose effects in linear and CMOS circuits.
Allan Johnston is also leading a NASA study on atmospheric radiation effects on advanced devices.
