Description

I will review the difficulties in our understanding of de Sitter space in string theory. Special emphasis will be given to a holographic approach inspired by the AdS/CFT correspondence. Although suggestive, I will also briefly review the arguments against the existence of a dS/CFT correspondence. Nevertheless, I then go on and explore the implications of dS/CFT for cosmology in general, and inflation in particular.
