Aim: The European Geophysical Society, the European Physical Society and the European Science Foundation are co-sponsoring an inter-disciplinary workshop to review the present knowledge of ion-aerosol-cloud interactions and their possible role in solar-climate variability, and to discuss the experimental requirements, design and experimental programme of the proposed Atmospheric Research Facility using a particle beam at CERN.
