SNL, CERN and AILIS are pleased to invite you to the next Library Science Talk.
Prof. Nastaran Fatemi and Prof. Omar Abou Khaled will give an overview of the Content Oriented Audiovisual Library Access (COALA) project. COALA aims to provide a complete platform for indexing and retrieval of TV news. They will first describe the problem of audiovisual information retrieval in general. Next they will present the results of a survey that they carried out in the TV news production environment of the T�l�vision Suisse Romande (TSR). They will describe the main features of the COALA project, which are
1) the use of MPEG-7 standard in production, archiving and retrieval of TV news,
2) the Semantic Views Model, and
3) the integration of querying and browsing modes in the audiovisual retrieval process. Finally they will give a few demonstrations on the indexing and retrieval tools provided by COALA.
