Description
A one-day non formal meeting on statistical issues related to searches. This would include both establishing limits for unobserved phenomena, and assessing the significance or p-value of observed effects. We envisage this meeting as being relevant for Particle and Nuclear Physicists, Astrophysicists and Statisticians. This interdisciplinary meeting theme is practical approach to statistical problems in physics. It will cover basic probability problems, error handling, determination of parameters and the use of statistical techniques in Physics data analysis. The level will be suitable for the whole Astrophysics and High Energy Physics communities starting at the level of graduate students with some experience of statistics.
