Description
gLite (pronounced "gee-lite") is the next generation middleware for grid computing. Born from the collaborative efforts of more than 80 people in 11 different academic and industrial research centres as part of the EGEE Project, gLite provides a bleeding-edge, best-of-breed framework for building grid applications tapping into the power of distributed computing and storage resources across the Internet.

This introductory course to the new middleware offers an overview of the features and gives an opportunity to try out the new system on the Gilda testbed.

The course is targeted mainly at members of the Swiss/German EGEE federation, although a very limited amount of seats is available for external participants.

The course assumes that participants have a user-level familiarity with LCG-2 job submission
