LCG 55b has been released and is used by LHC experiments. We are currently preparing the upcoming LCG 56 configuration
LCG 56 shall contain the following changes
- New platforms ie. slc5 and Windows VC9. In total these will be 20 platforms
osx105_ia32_gcc401
osx105_ia32_gcc401_dbg
slc4_amd64_gcc34
slc4_amd64_gcc34_dbg
slc4_amd64_gcc43
slc4_amd64_gcc43_dbg
slc4_ia32_gcc34
slc4_ia32_gcc34_dbg
slc4_ia32_gcc43
slc4_ia32_gcc43_dbg
x86_64-slc5-gcc34-opt
x86_64-slc5-gcc34-dbg
x86_64-slc5-gcc43-opt
x86_64-slc5-gcc43-dbg
i686-slc5-gcc34-opt
i686-slc5-gcc34-dbg
i686-slc5-gcc43-opt
i686-slc5-gcc43-dbg
win32_vc71_dbg
i686-winxp-vc9-dbg
Note the new platform tag names for slc5 and windows/vc9. This style should be used for any new platform names from now on.
- External software upgrades
Boost 1.34.1 1.37.0
CppUnit 1.10.2_4 1.12.1
fastjet 2.3.3 2.3.4
heppdt 2.02.02 2.05.01
pyqt 3.17.3 4.4.3
pyqt_compat 4.4.3
qt 3.3.8 4.4.2
sip 4.7 4.7.7
siscone 1.3.0 1.3.3
oracle 10.2.0.3-full 10.2.0.4
Most notably the changes are the new Boost - this has been accomplished by LCG/AA experiments. On windows we are still using the "old" version for Boost.
Windows installations for Boost and Cppunit are pending.
Oracle - the installation for oracle is pending
The windows installation for CppUnit is pending. Once installed we will also make this move. At the moment we are at 1.10.2_p5
- Common CMT version. A new cmt version has been released last week. We will switch to it ASAP.
- Problems with LCG 56
- slc5/i686 - we currently use the system provided gcc34 compiler for ROOT compilation and another installation in the contrib area. It seems that there is a difference between the two compilers. Root doesn't compile with the one in contrib. To be investigated
- ROOT/Reflex changes - currently investigations are going on for POOL tests using the Reflex PluginService and COOL tests using pyCOOL. The problems could be related to changes in Reflex - more investigations needed.
- Windows VC7.1 - Compilation errors in CORAL - these should be resolved to allow further investigations
- VC9 - the (virtual) build machine was crashing several times under high load (we also use the same host for slc5 compilation). As a short term solution a "real" box was prepared for the nightly builds on VC9 and shall be online soon.
Round table
===
CMS
---
- upgrading "external" packages to get close to LCG 56 (e.g. Boost 1.37)
Persistency
---
- Compilation errors for COOL in dev1 - use new tag COOL_2_6-patches
- Duplication of RELAX and COOL/POOL dictionary entries in rootmap files, use rootmap="false" to sort it out. Check with Markus
