Workshop preparation ==================== Collecting ideas for the workshop. main goal of this meeting. (so bar 32 people registered) In addition to the items below, I have received proposals from -Otto Schaile (HistPresenter) -Miro Morhac (peak finders) Will make a call to the LHC experiments -Workshop introduction: Rene -BASE ---- -Axel talk on new doc system -PROOF ----- At least half a day on this topic with talks expected from -Gerri: development of the new architecture -Maarten: use in Phobos -Ant: Corey -GUI: Marek -Jamie Shiers would like to give a talk on intregration of PROOF with SC4. -John Wu will give a talk on the GRID collector -Pete Elmer/Andy on a sub-workshop on xrootd/security/storage? -MATH ---- -MathCore -MathMore -Minuit ? -stats from Anna -Jan Conrad would like to give a talk on Confidence Intervals -DICT (Philippe/Stefan) Proposal for the workshop (CINT/Reflex/Python) ---------------------------------------------- For the ROOT workshop I am thinking that we should have 3 main talks for the CINT/Reflex/Interpreter sections: One on the update to CINT (move to C++, Improvement from Masa), which could also cover improvement in the Meta package. (by me) One on the merge of CINT and Reflex, current status (by Stefan) One on plan and current status of Reflex/Cint merge (by me)> One on pyroot (by Wim) -I/O Trees (Philippe, Markus) ------------------------------ Actually I think that we should mention/target everything since the last ROOT workshop (the audience can be slightly different). So I think we should cover thing introduce after ROOT 4.00/08. But we could be bried on the things done between ROOT 4.00/08 and CHEP. I think we could have up to 4 different (combinable :) ) talks: ROOT I/O: extend and optimize I/O of STL collections extend schema evolution (container to container) member wise streamering of STL collections better support for bool. extension to double32_t (range) TDirectory::GetDirectory (as opposed to cd) Introduce way to select I/O constructor TDirectory::TContext std(ext)::hash_xxx improved support for C-style array of objects. TTree large trees circular buffer Indices improvements (including indices for TChain) BranchRef TTree::ReadFile new type-checking/type-deducting interface to vcreat branch nested list of friends. SetBranchAddress performance improve TTreeSQL Current status and direction. Working on new features for PROOF with a common interface between a normal session and the PROOF session. Richard ======= Restructuring of GL viewer to separate the core parts from any GUI + support standard ExecuteEvent/DistanceToPrimitive calls in interface. Should enable Timur P. to make changes on his side to use GL viewer directly in pad via pixmaps. Other minor fixes to selection etc. This week: Restart work on clipping - we will have two methods: i) GL clip planes: Fast interactive draws Limited to shapes that can be represented as planes (e.g. box) Solids appear hollow - no capping of cut object ii) CSG (boolean) operation: Slow - final draws Any shape - though natively drawn spheres + cylinders might be difficult. Solids properly capped Implementing i) with simple box at present, together with manipulators to allow you to scale/move it. Will be off Friday 26th Aug - 9th Sept with new baby! Lorenzo ======= Maintenance for SEAL. Savannah open bugs SEAL plan of work problem with COOL using PyLCGdict2. Fons ==== Work with Gerri in new PROOF code. CASTOR2 now supported. Stefan ====== working on SEAL bugs for dict proposal from Atlas to add traits class to the dictionary working on makeCint new code. Running CINT tests.
