Intra Beam Scattering and Damping Rings

Participants: F. Antoniou, A.E. Bolshakov, H. Burkhardt, R. Corsini, B. Dalena, M. Martini, E. Metral, D. Möhl, Y. Papaphilippou, J. Pfingstner, D. Schulte, F. Stulle, A. Vivoli, P.R. Zenkevich P.R. Zenkevich described some basics of intra beam scattering and how this is implemented in the code MOCAC. Following his talk it was discussed how the code can be used for the CLIC damping rings, which limitations it has and which additions have to be made to it, e.g. damping by synchrotron radiation. P.R. Zenkevich and A.E. Bolshakov stay at CERN until end of January to collaborate with M. Martini and A. Vivoli. Within this time frame first results should be delivered. Y. Papaphilippou reported on the collaboration between CLIC and ILC for the development of damping rings. Besides very different beam parameters it is believed that there are enough similarities to benefit. Regular meeting will take place. It is hoped to organize a workshop on damping rings beginning of 2010.
