Description

Abstract:

A GridPix detector is a novel type of Micro Pattern Gaseous Detector.
It consists of an amplification grid built using MEMS technologies on top of a readout pixel chip; it allows a full 3D reconstruction of a track with a single layer of detectors while significantly lowering the material budget with respect to the more common silicon detectors.
In this seminar the main features of the detector will be discussed, together with the latest developments.
A special focus will be dedicated to the design and test results of two prototype chips used to characterize the fast timing circuits which have been later implemented in a full size readout chip, Timepix3
.
