Description
Feedback Issues
Participants: E. Adli, F. Antoniou, A. Dabrowski, B. Dalena, Ö. Mete, Y. Papaphilippou, J. Pfingstner, D. Schulte, F. Stulle, R. Tomas, A. Vivoli Y. Papaphilippou continued last weeks talk on kicker for the damping rings. Due to a reduction of the bunch repetion frequency and due to adjustment in the injection and extraction lines the requirements on the kickers were relaxed. Jitter stability remains the main issue. J. Pfingstner reviewed a feedback system proposed by D. Schulte. He applied techniques from control theory to describe performance and stability. First results are very promising, but further investigations are needed. Following the presentation there was a discussion on feedback requirements. D. Schulte expressed some concern about the required current stability in the main linac. On the one hand, the foreseen particle losses along the main beam line are huge. Whereas the current stability in main linac is very tight. Hence, the losses would have to be very stable. Y. Papaphilippou announced that ILC and CLIC damping ring working groups will have regular WebEx meetings starting in March. The presentation by L. Rinolfi was postponed.
