        Pro Release 5.12 status and plans for 5.13/02 10m
        A new patch 5.12.0c will be tagged today. It includes fixes for bugs when merging chains of trees in very special cases and a fix requested by CMS when processing Trees with leaves having very long names. The date for the development release 5.13/02 is still the same (30 august). Plans from GUI ========= * GUI classes - Improvements in TGFileDialog (in cvs): ~ Multiple files selection in Open file dialog ~ Make the button for creating a new system directory functional ~ Improve the way files are displayed in the dialog, etc. - Improvements in detailed TGListView (in cvs) - Hot keys fix for menu and buttons (in cvs) - Changes in tab widget (in cvs) - Fix in combo box class (in cvs) * GED Editors - Changes proposed by Matevz & Alja Tadel under validation testing. Very likely will be present for this release. * Fit Panel - First prototype under development, will not be present for the release. * GUI Builder (V. Onuchin) - No changes * Qt layer (V. Fine) - No changes Graphics (Olivier) ============= - Test libAfterimage (Valeri developments). - Fix a bug with PS sent on Savannah: one little script is working fine in interactive mode (the generated PS file is correct), the same code in a batch program generates a white page. Other items (not connected to the release): - Work with Matthieu to finalize his work. - Timur is coming next Monday. Math (Lorenzo) ========== Already in CVS some bug fixes for SMatrix and Mathcore requested by LHCb and CMS. Still need to do: - add some extra functions for the vectors in mathcore requested by C. Bernet (CMS). - add in mathmore a GSL wrapper class for 1D function minimization, which was present in the SEAL version but was not moved to ROOT - new Chi2 test routine from Daniel Dict === Nothing special foreseen. One important improvement is the subdstantial reduction in size of the memory occupied by CINT data structures (about a factor 3!) BASE === No major changes planned except the implementation of a $ROOTSYS/etc/systemlogon.C that will be a nice alternative to most statements in system.rootrc. PROOF ==== A lot of tuning has been done since the pro release. PROFF is under serious stress test by Alice.

        Rene: away next week Daniel: polishing TH1::Chi2Test with Lorenzo (should be in 5.13/02) Stefan: nothing major for the release. main activity is CINT/Reflex integration with Axel Leo: leaving for 2 weeks for the CERN school of computing Ian: idem Axel: improvements in THtml getting popular. Main focus obviously is CINT. Matthieu: polishing TGraphPolar David: improvements in TGButton with Ilka (will be part of 5.13/02) Ilka: - development of the new Fit Panel - working with David on: ~ sorting files by owner and group in file dialog (in cvs) ~ fix for button and menu hot keys when NumLock is ON (in cvs) ~ fix for check and radio button classes (to avoid emitting of multiple signals) ~ hot keys implementation of cascaded menus - user support - fixed all reported typos and obsolete texts in ROOT User's Guide
