Description

I will give a review on the recent progress in understanding the moduli space of heterotic compactifications. Focusing on compactifications to 4d Minkowski space, often referred to as the Strominger-Hull System, I will compute the infinitesimal "massless" spectrum, and show that it is given by the first cohomology H^1(Q) of a holomorphic double extension Q. If time, I will discuss higher order deformations and obstructions, corresponding to Yukawa couplings of the 4d theory. I also hope to discuss recent progress in the moduli of more exotic compactifications where the internal geometry has a G2 or Spin(7) structure.
