This workshop provides Web developers in the BE Department the opportunity to present their projects and to exchange ideas with the aims of:

  • Disseminating information across the different groups about projects, technologies and development strategies.
  • Identifying areas of duplication of effort to rationalise the development of the tools.
  • Finding areas of common interest and potential synergies between the different groups to ensure the coherent evolution of the developments.

Guidelines for presentations:

These are some of the points to be addressed during the presentations:

  • What is the purpose of the project (functionality, target user community, criticality / availability requirements, etc.).
  • Are the applications read-only or read-write?
  • What is the high-level architecture and chosen technologies and why?
  • What are the interactions with other systems and how is this done?
  • What is the current status, on-going/foreseen work, maintenance and evolution planning (if any)?
  • What are the problems that have been encountered / solved / pending?
  •  What is the development environment (tools), process (team make-up and organisation), and deployment and runtime?
