Description
Within the CALICE collaboration, several concepts are developed for the electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters of a future linear electron-positron collider detector. All these calorimeter concepts have very small cell sizes, optimised for particle flow algorithms. For the electromagnetic calorimeter, prototypes with tungsten absorber and silicon or scintillator as active material have been built and operated in beam tests. For the hadronic calorimeter, active layers based on glass RPCs or scintillator tiles have been operated with steel or tungsten as absorber material. This talk will show results from the beam tests, demonstrating the performance of the different technologies, and comparisons to Geant4 simulations. In addition, the development of second generation prototypes that are scalable to a full collider detector will be discussed.
