The Department of Astronomy at the Aranzadi Society of Sciences invites all its members and friends to take an inside look at the world’s largest particle accelerator. During this virtual tour we will visit the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment, part of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Our host will Rebeca González Suárez, postdoc at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and Javier Cuevas, profesor de Física de Partículas en la Universidad de Oviedo en España.

The Department of Astronomy joined the Aranzadi Society of Sciences in 1977. Its objectives are to coordinate the activities of citizen astronomers around San Sebastián and to promote scientific culture in the Basque Country, organising open lectures and public observations. It consists of about twenty active members including amateur astronomers and graduates.
