Public Transport form Mainz Central Station
You can reach the campus of the university via tram or bus, starting from the Mainz main station. There are several bus-stops, labelled by letters (see on the map of the station to see where you need to go):
- Tram-line 51, direction “Lerchenberg“ from bus-stop A
- Tram-line 53, direction “Lerchenberg“ from bus-stop L
- Bus 55, direction “Finthen“ from bus-stop E
- Bus 56, direction “Wackernheim“ from bus-stop E
Get off the bus at the stop “Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg“, which is one after the stop “Universität“, walk in direction in which the tram leaves (on the side of the street of the tram) until you reach Staudingerweg. Turn right into Staudingerweg until you reach the “Helmholtz Institut Mainz“ (see campus map)
From Frankfurt International Airport
Go to the regional train station and take one of the regional trains in direction to Mainz (e.g. S8 - final stop Wiesbaden, or RB with stop in Mainz). They run at least every 15 minutes and take 20 minutes to Mainz main station.
