CLIC BDS 3 TeV Baseline Tuning Study 20m

Update on the 2-beam tuning study.

Speaker: Dr Eduardo Marin Lacoma (CERN)

Participants: Ryan, Fabien, Edu, Dominik, Yanliang, Doug, Jack, Raul, Pierre, Cafer, Umut, Andrea, Juergen

      Edu: status is

      • 90% of the machines reach 1.0 * L_0 in case of single-beam tuning
      • 90% of the machines reach 0.94 * L_0 in case of two-beam tuning

      Ryan:

      • re-optimizing the 1-2-1 and DFS parameters. Daniel suggests to include in the figure of merit the effect of a 1-step quick application of the knobs.

      Fabien:

      • Increasing the dispersion helps.

Starting Over for the Traditional 3 Tev case 20m

After many failed attempts at single-beam tuning the traditional lattice at 3 TeV, I'm going back to the very beginning and starting from the basics.

Several dimensionless (thin-lens) skew quads have been added, and I am currently scanning the Beta and W1 weights to make sure that we are using the appropriate values.

Speaker: Dr Ryan Michael Bodenstein (John Adams Institute - Oxford)
