Description
The bi-weekly meeting of the LHC librarians and LCG/AA projects
Attendees: Hubert Degaudenzi, Andrea Valassi, Emil Obreshkov, Stefan Roiser News === LCGc released --- - The release went were smooth, release date was July 28. It contains bugfixes for ROOT, COOL, CORAL and POOL. Move to new oracle client 10.2.0.4p1-full and upgrades of Grid packages. - Atlas will use this release with their 15.4.0. It is built, the kit is ready. No problem reported so far. pyxml -> xml dir removal --- - The pyxml installation is overwriting the "xml" module of the python installation because of a symlink "xml"->"_xmlplus". The fix to the problem will be to create a new package pyxml 0.8.4p1 with the same contents but renaming the symlink to "pyxml"->"_xmlplus" -->> Action Stefan (done Aug 18) Opengrok --- - The activities for the source code cross referencing tool opengrok have been resumed by SPI. The goal is to provide a working installation for LCG releases and infrastructure for experiments for their usage. Round Table === LHCb --- - A new Gaudi v24r4-pre tag has been created. This tag will pick up LCG 56c. The release is expected to be done next week. Persistency --- - A lot of work was done on COOL tests, they are much faster now. This is a combination of rewriting parts, optimizing queries and running only parts of test suites in some slots (test2 for nightlies development). - Moving to new oracle RAC for tests in nightlies since 2-3 weeks. This also improved significantly the performance of the test suites because of lower load on the new system. - Testing the new oracle client for LCG. Tests are running fine with 11.1 which fixes 2 bugs. The third bug (selinux) will be fixed in 11.2. 11.1 requires new system libraries (libaio) - these have been installed in the lxplus, batch clusters. Atlas --- - 15.4.0 has been released with 56c (see above) - Using nightly builds on the distcc cluster. For running gcc 4.3 on slc5 a modification on LCGCMT would be required, i.e. to rename the compiler to eg. "lcg-g++-4.3.2" for tags CERNDISTCC&target-slc5&target-gcc43 -->> Action Stefan (( The following patch has been committed to LCG_Settings for fixing this problem Index: requirements =================================================================== RCS file: /cvs/LCGCMT/lcgcmt/LCG_Settings/cmt/requirements,v retrieving revision 1.92 diff -u -r1.92 requirements --- requirements 6 Jul 2009 18:24:03 -0000 1.92 +++ requirements 18 Aug 2009 12:19:53 -0000 @@ -396,6 +396,7 @@ # C Settings macro cc_name "gcc" \ + CERNDISTCC&target-slc5&target-gcc43 "lcg-gcc-4.3.2" \ host-slc5&target-gcc34 "gcc34" \ target-darwin "cc" \ target-winxp "cl" \ @@ -405,6 +406,7 @@ # C++ Settings macro cpp_name "g++" \ + CERNDISTCC&target-slc5&target-gcc43 "lcg-g++-4.3.2" \ host-slc5&target-gcc34 "g++34" \ target-darwin "c++" \ target-winxp "cl" \ @@ -415,6 +417,7 @@ # Fortran Settings macro for_name "g77" \ + CERNDISTCC&target-slc5&target-gcc43 "lcg-gfortran-4.3.2" \ target-gcc4 "gfortran" \ target-winxp "f77.exe" \ target-llvm "llvm-gfortran" \ )) - Improvements in tbroadcast - some recent changes will fix problems with frozen child processes. Another problem fixes problems on Mac (before stuck processes). Grigori has received the changes and eventually release a new version. - The meta-rpm compiled by GD is not supported on quattor managed machines - it only works for package managers with dependency resolving, e.g. yum. IT is working on it. - Atlas is re-enabling selinux on lxbuild nodes to see all current problems with it. Aob === - Code coverage testing for nightlies has been developed by Radim (SPI summer student). The coverage testing is currently executed in the test2 slot. As soon as the new nightlies scripts are in production coverage testing can also be done in the regular dev(1,2,3) slots. - The test2 slot of the nightlies does not show COOL tests. -->> Action Stefan
