Description
The bi-weekly meeting of the LHC librarians and LCG/AA projects
Attendees: Emil Obreshkov, Andreas Pfeiffer, Marco Clemencic, Stefan Roiser, Andrea Valassi, Bertrand Bellenot News === LCG 57a --- The first bug fix release of the LCG 57 series has been released. This release is fixing a CORAL bug which delayed opening of files and upgrades cx_Oracle to version 5.0.1 (against oracle client 11.2) Macphsft02 --- The "smaller" mac server of PH/SFT has been upgraded to Mac OSX 10.6 (snow leopard). In case developers need accounts on this machine please send an email to Stefan. CernVM --- The testing of slc4/32 bit has been enabled in the nightlies (new version). In the future we envisage the possibility to also build the LCG/AA software stack natively on cernvm. We have started with the "testing only" because this is the current working model for cernvm binaries. Round Table === Atlas --- - The libgfortran.so binary of the gcc afs installation includes debug symbols. The easiest is possibly to strip the libraries. - libaio.so missing on lxbuild nodes. The quattor profiles have been updated in the meantime, so this should be fixed now. - Python on Mac OSX is not working correctly, this needs to be further investigated ("version mismatch"). Note: In the meantime this problem has also been fixed, this was due to a wrongly linked python executable in the afs area. - slc5 will move to gcc 4.4 preview rpm. We can give it a try to build the AA software stack with this compiler, but it's possibly patched in order to meet the requirements of the "system gcc 4.1" (as it was the case for the gcc 4.3 preview rpm before) LHCb --- - Currently building new releases on top of LCG 57a. CMS --- - Preparing new set of externals - upgrading to Boost 1.40 and Python 2.6, these could be used for reconstruction at some stage - not decided yet - CMSSW 3.3 will be the main series for data taking - no upgrades foreseen there. - Andreas proposed to exchange names of rpm packages we need for building and running on slc5 nodes. This list should then be presented to FIO at the next Linux certification meeting. Persistency --- - Currently working on cleanup COOL, POOL and CORAL for the upcoming LCG 56d release. Aob ===
