Scientific Programme

Lecturers will provide a background in the following subjects together with exercises to calculate examples of spectra and isotope production.

  • Geosciences including: neutrino geoscience, nuclear hydrology, cosmogenic isotopes, muons tomography, geostatistics, and gamma-ray surveys.

  • Cosmochemistry including: exposure ages, neutron production, and environmental isotopes.

  • Nuclear Chemistry including: nuclear forensics, analytical instrumentation, and noble gas isotope studies.

  • Neutrino Physics including: cosmic ray induced background, event reconstruction in the detector, and geoneutrino and reactor antineutrino detection.

The Summer Insitute will be organized in frontal lectures and hands-on sessions dedicated to calculations and measurements.
There will be a student poster session and a short presentation of results from exercises.

The Summer Institute foresees also a field trip during which participants will have the chance to acquire a direct knowledge of the main geological processes and of the outcropping lithologies in the marvelous scenery of the Euganean Hills.
