testing progress (Enrico, Roland):
- (showing some of the slides shown in Monday's ATLAS FELIX Developers' meeting)
- EHN1: some issues on the FELIX side because of missing CRC at the end of a chunk causing an error flag to be raised (Dan will follow up)
- spydaq on the second WIB link: data loooks fine (but not received correctly by FELIX)
- also difference between data and test modes on second link
- Dan: FELIX shoud now be working correctly at BU, will check. What to use? (Giovanna:) fedump, fdaq
- Giovanna: would be good to find some extended amount of time between CERN and BU, to sort out remaining issues?
Cosmic Ray Tagger (Giovanna):
- (goes back to discussion > 10 months ago, at which point there were person-power issues)
- now a group with some more person-power joined
- apparently they feel that the CRT is a good occasion to test FELIX (potential interest in DUNE ND)
- for FE, they intend to use the Kintex 707 dev board (also used as FELIX emulator in ATLAS)
- for the CRT, the requirements appear to be modest: low data volume
- a single link to a single FELIX system ought to suffice; it should then be possible to channel CRT data using a separate subscription to felixcore
- Giovanna will have a more detailed discussion with them shortly, this should help to clarify the details
hardware needs:
- networking needed for the BNL711 card now installed at EHN1: compression not yet active/opportune so 100 Gb/s link seems desirable
- restriction to 3m cable length if copper cables used
- Nikhef OK with paying (and actually purchasing). Frank will take action
- also look into price of active-optical cable (longer cables possible) and into compatibility with the Brocade icx7750 switch (but note that this can do 40 Gb/s only)
AOB:
- Enrico and Roland asked (by the FELIX developers) to serve as a first point of contact for technical FELIX questions
- FELIX team should expect to be asked for a report on the implementation of the Overlay in the ProtoDUNE DAQ meeting on September 11 (RCE has been asked to report on September 4)
Next meeting: September 13
