Developer's meeting

There were no formal presentations, but we discussed a few items:

• networking hardware purchase: Frank mentioned that an alternative to the (expensive) Mellanox cards is being investigated: Chelsio
  • ongoing tests by Jos (using NetIO) suggest that the card should work, even if it may take a bit more trouble to get it to work properly
  • but it is not opportune yet to decide
• firmware progress: Enrico reported progress in the communication between WIB and FELIX:
  • of the two links, the first one now appears to be stable
  • the second still has problems, in that the control characters are not recognised properly by FELIX; suspicion is that a time alignment issue could play a role here (as the firmware blocks for the different links are identical)
  • update after the meeting: the issue with the second link has been fixed!
• next up: hopefully incorporate triggering
  • for now, can work with a mock trigger
  • we discussed a bit the particularities of moving to the "real" trigger message coming from the event builder. Will talk to RCE to see how they deal with this
