Enrico, Roland: updates at EHN1

  • test of BoardReader at EHN1; managed today to use the complete setup (in particular, integrated with the rest of the DAQ)
    • for now, trigger timestamps received from the timing system (rather than from event builder)
  • connecting also to NetIO publisher
  • no time yet to test actual data taking; this is to start shortly
  • Frank: would be good to test full setup (including BoardReader) with multiple links? Roland: this should already be working

Milo: Overlay

  • basically working at least for the ADC data (most difficult part due to non-contiguous storage of data)
    • still need to test detailed validity (Roland can forward actual input data sent by WIB internal emulator)
    • also still need to implement access to header data (but should be more straightforward)
  • Roland: cold box testing to begin on October 5, would like overlay to be functioning by then
  • Dan: WIB format changed slightly since discussed last; will re-circulate [done]

AOB:

  • compression: need to converge on a plan for this
    • timing benchmarks; compare hardware accelerated compression with software
    • fall-back solution is to send on the data uncompressed, but not desirable to keep doing this
  • Dan: would be good to get some help in configuring the setup at BU reliably
    • Roland: will start by forwarding conclusions from Jos about BIOS settings [done]

Next meeting: in two weeks' time (i.e., October 4)

  • likely discussion topic: debriefing of Milestone Week (presently ongoing)
