Giovanni gave an overview of beam-instabilities induced by the presence of ionised gas in the beam area (see slides). Bernard showed revised estimations of ionisation levels induced by the macroscopic electric field of the beam (see slides).
The later data set will be used by Giovanni as new input for the e-cloud code.
Cedric, Mauro et Pedro gave a tentative work-plan of experimentation in order to make quantitative predictions of the achievable vacuum level in the main linac. They emphasized the unknowns related to the presence of water in a system which cannot be baked-out.
A follow-up meeting will take place towards the end of September
