Description
A multicolor version of QCD can be defined by choosing fermions in the antisymmetric representation of the gauge group (orientifold theory). In the large-N limit and in a common sector, the orientifold theory has been proved to be equivalent to YM with fermions in the adjoint representation (orientifold planar equivalence). In particular one-flavor QCD becomes equivalent to SuperYM in this unconventional large-N limit. After presenting the first numerical investigations of the orientifold theory, I will mainly focus on analytical results, partly obtained by strong-coupling lattice techniques. I will discuss how the different center symmetry of the two theories does not contradict orientifold planar equivalence. On the other hand, orientifold planar equivalence and supersymmetry predict the equality of the Regge slopes for mesons and baryons in the orientifold theory.
