Description
The status of the beam loss studies on in the injectors is presented, in particular reviewing the first full year of CNGS operation. A number of issues which appeared during the run, like for example the high radiation levels observed in the Linac3 building and the expected and feared increaseof machine irradiation, will be discussed in detail.
The presentation will also focus on possible solutions to alleviate the impact of the losses on the machine irradiation with a discussion about future operation modes, like in the case of the MTE extraction at the PS,
and on a longer time scale, the PSB operation with the Linac4.
