Description

A laser ablation ion source allows production of ions of almost any element contained in a solid matrix. This has proved to be particularly advantageous for the CRIS technique as it has allowed laser ionization scheme development of previously inaccessible elements with an ideal pulsed time structure.

This talk will summarise the versatility of an ablation source in tandem with the CRIS technique in extracting atomic parameters, the latest results from the setup and its potential applications in the near future.
