Approval of minutes

The minutes of the LIU-PSB WG #217 meeting were approved.

Communications

General

  • The conformity of the electrical equipment to be installed in the PSB needs to be verified in terms of risk of direct contact. For this, the equipment that will be tested in the laboratory before installation in the machine will also be subject to an initial electrical inspection from the Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Protection Unit (HSE). A. Funken has prepared an Excel file listing the relevant equipment to gather all the required information for the HSE pre-visit and inspection. All work package holders should fill in the file before the 26th of August. The electrical inspection has already been carried out for the Finemet cavities and the BSW magnets.

LIU-PT Meeting

  • Concerning the Work Package Analysis for LS2, J. Coupard reported that the time estimates for cabling, de-cabling, and fibers are now available from EN-EL. The schedules for the different machines will be reviewed internally by EN-ACE based on this information and finalized during summer.
  • B. Mikulec sent an e-mail two weeks ago concerning the equipment located in the PSB building that will need to be powered for the LBE run with Linac4 in 2019. The PSB building will be locked out, so the relevant equipment needs to be listed to check if there is any showstopper.

LIU Beam Performance Meeting

  • The last meeting was held the 5th of July 2018 and was dedicated to PSB emittance measurements and emittance growth at PS injection.

EN-CV Activities in building 245 (J. Rodary)

Scope of activities

The activities of EN-CV concerning building 245 are divided into four Work Loads (WL):

  • WL1 & WL2: Main cooling plant and distribution system.
  • WL3 and WL4: HVAC systems for converter halls and for the technical building.

Other additional activities include:

  • WL5-A: Cooling circuit for Main Power Converters.
  • WL5-B: Cooling circuit for reference magnet.
  • Water treatment station.
  • Drinking water supply.
  • Chilled water distribution pipes.
  • EDMS documentation.

Completed activities

  • The workloads WL1 (cooling water tower), WL2 (pumping station), WL3 (air handling units and smoke extractor), and WL4 are completed.

Ongoing activities

  • The completion of WL5-A is delayed until the 9th of August 2018. The commissioning of the power converters will be carried out in September 2018 by F. Boattini.
  • The deadline for the completion of WL5-B will be defined together with F. Boattini.
  • The water treatment plant is expected to be completed by September 2018.
  • The drinking water supply has been completed today.
  • The chilled water pipes depend on G. Petrika, who is doing the design. The chilled water transfer lines will go from building 361 to 245. The location of the water treatment station has been defined. Concerning the ventilation unit, it was installed on the rooftop à additional cost incurred. The installation in the basement was refused by HSE for security reasons.

Open topics

  • There was a problem with the budget code 53661, and a TDI is to be done to recover ~ 71 kCHF.

Comments

  • G. P. Di Giovanni asked about the problems with the budget. J. Rodary answered that the budget code 53661 was used by other work packages, too, and that the money can be, in principle, recovered.
  • J. Devine commented that the schedule of EN-CV presented is coherent with the electrical commissioning.
  • T. Birtwistle commented that now there are hardware baselines for all the buildings and that he would like to link the EDMS document for this activity to the database.

AOB

ECR update (T. Birtwistle)

Multiple groups

  • BPM for the BI line: Launched for approval.
  • Extraction region to the BT line: Draft version ready.

TE-ABT

  • The new BT.KFA10 kicker 3D models are waiting for the integration model to be updated.
  • The BEr.KFA14L1 ECR is waiting for impedance studies.

TE-MSC

  • Waiting for the damping resistor studies.

TE-EPC

  • The ECR concerning the septa transformers for the extraction line components has been removed.
  • The rest of the ECRs are all under approval, waiting for integration.

BE-BI

  • Wire scanners: Has been approved.

BE-RF

  • Small issue with the support of a vacuum chamber; the integration model needs to be updated.

EN-STI

  • The removal of beam stoppers in BI has been approved, but the vacuum chamber models are still needed.

EN-CV

  • Chilled water and cooling: Waiting for integration studies.

EN-ACE

  • Waiting for the integration studies for the LBE line.
  • The other two ECRs for dismantling for Linac2 and connection of Linac4 are ready.

Tour de table

S. Albright reported that the impedance of the new extraction kicker KFA.14L1 depends on the relativistic beta, which changes a lot in the PSB, so the impedance simulations need to be done at a range of energies to allow it to be correctly treated in beam dynamics simulations.

Next LIU-PSB meeting: 31st of July 2018 on the EN-EL activities and status and the post-mortem analysis during the YETS by James Devine and cabling activities by Georgi Minchev Georgiev.
