How to get to Oslo

  • Flight to Oslo Airport (OSL). We do not recommend traveling via the other "Oslo" airport Torp (TRF). However, it is known to be an adventure.

From the airport you can reach the town by:

    • Airport express train. Currently costs 190 NOK, and takes you directly to Oslo Central Station in 22 minutes. Runs every 10 minutes for most of the day, otherwise every 20 minutes.

    • Regular train. Runs less regularly to the Central Station and takes a few minutes more. Cost 101 NOK.

    • Airport buss. Usually only for locals who know exactly where the different airport buss lines end up but if you want to try, aim for the one going to Majorstuen (The Major's Cabin). Unreasonably expensive since it takes much longer than the train.

    • Taxi. Only if you have too much money. If you take a taxi we expect you to help pay for the meeting :P

  • Train to Oslo Central Station from Stockholm or Gothenburg. This always seems like a good idea until you get to the Norwegian border and the train slows to half speed.

How to reach the Soria Moria Hotel

Please use public transport with metro line 1 ("t-bane" in Norwegian), destination Frognerseteren, and alight at the Voksenkollen (the Adult Knoll) stop (second to last stop). The hotel is a 800 meter walk on public road, taking approximately 13 minutes to walk. Use google maps. Follow the road, don't go into the forest.

Some tips for the metro: buy a ticket before you board the train and remember to validate it on the electronic beeping thingy. It gets very expensive if you are caught without a ticket. You can also use the Ruter app to buy tickets. Only the inner zone of the fare system is relevant, so you should pay 35 NOK for the trip. Note that Line 1 is the slowest metro line in the world, so the trip may take somewhere around 45 minutes, but the view is great!
