Traveling to Karlsruhe

Karlsruhe main station can be reached via ICE from many other train stations in Germany/Europe. There is also a direct connection to Frankfurt am Main Airport (takes about 1 hour). The train from Geneva takes about 4:40 h, below you find a list of possible connections from Geneva to Karlsruhe on June, 8th. For further information and booking please visit www.bahn.com.

From Karlsruhe main station you can reach KIT Campus South via tram. The trams leave outside the main station building ("Bahnhofsvorplatz"). You can take any of the following trams:

  • S8 (Destination "Tullastrasse")
  • 2 (Destination "Wolfartsweier")
  • S4 (Destination "Eppingen")

and leave at station "Durlacher Tor/KIT Campus Sud". From there  you can reach the venue by foot (about 5 minutes).


Venue

The workshop takes place in the mathematics building (Thursday) and the physics building (Friday, Saturday) at KIT Campus South. Both can be reached  by foot from tram stations close to KIT. The route will be signposted.

Thursday, June 8th:

Friday, June 9th, and Saturday, June 10th:

Accommodation

There are plenty of hotels in Karlsruhe, close to the main station as well as close to the city center and KIT. Below you find some examples with reasonable prizes and distances to KIT:

We advice you to book your room as soon as possible.

There are also 3 rooms available in the KIT guest house (On site, next to the physics building, 60 Euro/night). Please contact directly the KIT guest house service (info@gdh.kit.edu) and specify "CMS-Single-Top-Workshop" as name of the workshop, the 3 rooms are already pre-booked.


Registration and workshop fee

Please register to the workshop via the Registration form on this indico page. A workshop fee of 50 Euro (covering coffee breaks, a reception with drinks and snacks on Thursday evening and the Workshop Dinner on Friday evening) should be payed cash at the registration desk at the workshop venue.


Vidyo

Vidyo connection will be available. The closed sessions can be followed from remote by connecting the vidyo room of the biweekly CMS single top meetings. For the open session an open vidyo room will be provided. The link can be found on the main page of the workshop.


WiFi

Internet access through eduroam is provided at the work shop venue. Please make sure to register for eduroam in time. In addition, participants without eduroam accounts can get a guest login to the kit-wireless network during the workshop. Just ask for it at the registration desk.


Lunch and Coffee breaks

During coffee breaks, coffee, tea and water will be served. The locations of several restaurants near KIT Campus South and of the KIT mensa are indicated on the KIT-Campusmap. At "line 6 (Update)" in the KIT mensa it is possible to pay cash, for all other lines you have to get a Guest-card first at the information desk close to mensa entrance. At the "Cafeteria" (smaller snacks, coffee, tea,...) next to the mensa and in the "[koeri]werk" (Currywurst, fries, salad,...) at the mensa ground floor you can also pay cash.


Workshop Dinner

The workshop dinner will take place on Friday (June 9th) evening at 18.30 in the "Badisch Brauhaus" (Stephanienstraße 38-40, Karlsruhe). The Badisch Brauhaus is in walking distance from the workshop venue (~20 minutes).
