Here is important information about the CERN guided tours organised for the IPU 139th Assembly participants.
Format
- Guided tours are free of charge.
- Guided tours are given in one language (English, French or Spanish), please choose the right tour in the right language.
- Guided tours include:
- Guided tour and multimedia show at the Synchro Cyclotron, CERN's first accelerator
- Guided tour of the control room of ATLAS, the largest particle physics detector ever built
- Due to the operation of the LHC no underground visit is possible in October.
- Guided tours start and end at CICG (IPU 139th Assembly main venue).
- Transport by bus is provided by CERN.
- It is not possible to leave the tour before it ends.
Safety rules
- Cameras are authorized (and even encouraged) during the tour.
- Large bags and luggage should be left in the coach.
- In case of mobility issues, please inform us on the registration form.
Mandatory registration
- Specific registration for the CERN guided tours is mandatory.
- Your IPU 139th Assembly registration is not sufficient to join a CERN guided tour.
- Click on "Registration" on the menu to register.
- CERN site access rules require to provide the following information for each visitor at the time of registration: last name, first name, date of birth, place of birth, country of birth and nationality.
- Your registration is complete once you have received the email confirming it.
On the day of the tour...
- Make sure you are at CICG main entrance at the latest at 12:50 (10 minutes before the guided tour starts).
- The buses won't wait for late comers.
- A personal visitor card will be distributed to you, to be worn visibly during all the tour.
- Please bring a valid ID with you as identity check may be performed by CERN security.

- Pass by CERN Guided Tours desk at the conference open from 11h00 until 14h00 from Monday till Thursday.
