Description
The bi-weekly meeting of the LHC librarians and LCG/AA projects
Attendees: Emil, Andrea, Andreas, Hubert, Bertrand, Stefan News === LCG 58 --- - is currently in preparation. It will contain upgrades of all AA projects, ROOT 5.26.00a, RELAX_1_2_1, CORAL_2_3_6, COOL_2_8_5, POOL_2_9_5 re-doing python modules --- - Several new python modules have been requested to be imported and provided via LCG Configurations. As we have now very many small modules, the decision was to group these modules into bigger "chunks", i.e. pygraphics --- pyqt pyqt_compat sip pydot pyparsing pyanalysis --- numpy * scipy * matplotlib * pytools --- processing ipython py * mock * scons 4suite pyxml cx_oracle mysql_python - The LCGCMT Interface packages will be enhanced with a couple of cmt tags to facilitate the usage of dependent optional packages (e.g. mysql_python depending on mysql if it's used from within pytools) Round Table === Atlas --- - The nightly builds shall move to gcc 4.3.2p1, the stripped version of the compiler - 4suite hardcoded pathes were removed and the new package 1.0.2p1 installed in afs - Emil will check if all problems are gone - Migration to slc5 is progressing - development nighties on slc5 are ok, release 15.6.3 with slc5 kit will be pushed on the Grid - Can Atlas move to the dev4 slot of the nightly builds (i.e. based on ROOT 5.26), Emil will check. Persistency --- - With the latest version of the nightly builds, the log files are not sorted anymore, because of multithreaded builds on the package and project levels. SPI will try to apply fixes to have the general visible logfile in order again. - Andrea claims that vc9 builds are missing manifest files, e.g. from the ROOT build. Bertrand will check for this. - With the vc9 build also some build errors in connection with Python were observed when using the afs installation. Stefan will check if the installation on the build node and afs are in sync. CMS --- - Moving to Boost 1.41 because of more usage of the spirit package (less compile warnings) - Moving also to Python 2.6 for the offline LHCb --- - Hubert shall be removed from the LCG nightlies GAUDIATLAS info list - Hubert has developed a python module to compute CMTCONFIG, this could be integrated also into LCGCMT. ROOT --- - Version 5.26.00a will be released soon - A new version of gccxml 0.9.0_20100113 has been installed for windows Aob === - New compilers, gcc 4.5 (snapshot) and llvm 2.6 are available in the afs external area.
