Attendees: Andreas Pfeiffer, Hubert Degaudenzi, Emil Obreshkov, Alex Kalkhof, Stefan Roiser, News === - The afs installation of gcc 4.3.2 has been stripped in place. This saves around 50 % of the installation space thus reducing the size of the package to be shipped. - A new version of gcc has been installed in afs, i.e. a snapshot of the current "4.5" development trunk. This version is also used as gcc version "gccmax" in the nightly builds. The idea is to make moves to new compiler versions as smooth as possible and digest them in smaller chunks. At the same time it was also discussed which other warnings should be enabled for the software builds. Andreas pointed out that CMS has done some investigations for the gcc suite and came up with a list of compile options that seem to be useful. Currently this is being discussed - no implementation yet. ROOT --- - Release ROOT 5.22.00 h has been done. There was a problem with the castor plugin on mac. This is being followed up with the castor development team. - ROOT 5.26.00 b has been released successfully Atlas --- - 15.6.5 release has been built and is going to be used for Simulation and Physics analysis - 15.5.6 has been released for the HLT in P1 - The next release will be 15.6.6 and pick up currently being released LCG 56e - Good progress has been done for the installation kits for mac builds. Reco is working, one visualization graphics package works. - Another problem with the oracle client for AMD quad core processor has been reported (using oracle 11.2). This seems to be similar to the one which made it necessary to revert oracle to 10g for the LCG 56e release. LHCb --- - Currenly building Gaudi v21r7p1 with LCG 58a - The problem with Python with hardcoded pathes has not been solved yet. - A problem with helix login scripts has been detected. Hubert will provide more details to the LIM list <--- action Hubert CMS --- - Started testing with ROOT 5.26, build is finishing, currently checking the performance improvements that can be drawn from this release. - With the newly installed gcc "max" also a new version of gccxml needs to be bult to support the gcc 4.5 series. The changes have been submitted by Stefan to the gccxml development team and uploaded to their repository. A new installation for gccxml will be done soon with this snapshot. Aob === -
