About Ljubljana

Ljubljana is the capitol of the Republic of Slovenia. It is a pleasant town with a population of about 300k, located on the banks of river Ljubljanica. Tourists seem to like it more and more.  Tourist information can be found here

Meeting Location

The meeting will take place at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana.  Details about the general access to the faculty are here.

In brief, the faculty is a 15 minute bus ride from the city center.

The meeting room is the lecture room F-2 on the first floor.

There is good WiFi access through Eduroam, we will organize guest access as well.

We have made a block reservation for lunches in a nearby cafeteria, the price of a two-course lunch is around 8 EUR.

Public transport in Ljubljana

The city has a decent bus network, provided by the LPP.  The service is paid with the Urbana card (available from vending machines on bigger bus stops, where you can also refill it) which now exists also as a phone app (Android only): the cost is 1.2 EUR per ride (within 90 mins, includes bus changes).  Google maps does a good job with the public transport.

LPP transport leaflet

Taxis are reasonably cheap (about 1.5 EUR/km on average ), the fares however vary quite a lot depending on the company. As a general rule, companies with taxi cars having stickers on the doors are (much) cheaper.
