Laptops and Wireless access

Registration for network access

There are two ways to obtain access to the CERN network: either a) using eduroam credentials (from your home educational / research institution) to access the 'eduroam' wireless network, or b) registering your computer(s).

Both ways will enable access to the CERN network.  If you do not have an eduroam certificate on your laptop, you are strongly encouraged to register your laptop to request access prior your arrival at CERN by completing the network connection request form. Please put either John Apostolakis or Gabriele Cosmo as the contact person in the form - we will approve your request.

Wireless networks are available at most locations inside CERN. You can find further information about this and all related topics at the page on "how do I use the CERN's wireless".

Note that all access to the CERN networks is subject to CERN's Computing Rules, which you will be asked to read and accept.

Electrical Power

Please note that the power sockets at CERN are Swiss.  The Swiss three-pin power sockets are unique, whereas there is usually compatibility with two-pin European chords. Those visiting from outside Switzerland should check to see whether they will require a socket adaptor - e.g. a European-Swiss adaptors
