The applications for the CERN Entrepreneurship Student Programme 2019 are now closed, and all applicants have been informed about the selection. We are looking forward to welcoming 15 highly qualified participants in July!
Application process
The CESP application process happens first and foremost through applying for CERN's Short-Term Internship Programme. However, it is important to remark that CESP has different eligibility criteria than the Short-Term Internship Programme, and that there are some additional elements connected to applying to CESP. To be considered for CESP, please complete all the steps below.
Apply through CERNs Short-Term Internship Programme:
- Click here to start your application.
- Fill in personal information, information about your education, and upload your CV.
- Fill in specific information connected to the Short-Term Internship Programme. Remember that the application form is general and not tailored for CESP. Therefore, please choose 'Knowledge Transfer & Innovation Management' as main field of interest.
- Important: In order to be considered for the CERN Entrepreneurship Student Programme, you will have to indicate that you are applying specifically for this programme, simply by writing “CESP” in your answer to the questions 'What is your motivation for applying for this job', 'Please provide a brief outline of the type of work you would like to do at CERN' and 'Describe any other relevant training you may have had, including the nature of the work, the name of the institute or company and when it took place'. When searching for candidates, we are using the keyword 'CESP', and you will not show up in our results if you have not written the specific word.
- Specific for CESP: Under 'Additional attachments', upload two independent reference letters (from professors, previous employers etc.), academic transcripts, and a motivation letter describing why YOU should be selected (250 words maximum). The documents should be in pdf format.
- After the application deadline, a short questionnaire is sent by e-mail, and must be filled out. More information about the questionnaire will be received after the application deadline.
Eligibility
In order to be considered for the programme, you will have to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
- You must be enrolled or registered as a Master's student at your institute/university during your stay at CERN. Please note that the selected candidates will have to fill in a “home institution declaration” signed by their university which is required for establishing the contract.
- Your Master's programme should ideally focus on entrepreneurship or similar (if not, the application should clearly elaborate on other activities and initiatives that gives you the relevant experience and/or knowledge within entrepreneurship). Moreover, you should preferably have a strong technical background.
- You need to be over 18 years old.
- CERN's Short-Term Internship Programme also states that you need to have adequate financial resources to support yourself and accompanying family. CESP will however cover accommodation for the five-week stay, and the received allowance from CERN should cover food and travel. It should be noted that the allowance will not be received before the end of August, and you must hence have the adequate financial resources to be able to pay for your travel and meals during the stay.
Information specific to CESP
It is important to remark that even though you will formally apply through CERN's Short-Term Internship Programme, CESP has it's own terms and conditions on top of the basic requirements for the Internship Programme.
CESP have different deadlines compared to the Internship Programme:
- The applications open 20 February
- The applications close 1 April
- Final selection 30 April
