University of Warsaw
The University of Warsaw was founded in 1816. It encompasses 21 faculties and over 30 research units with 45'500 students, 3'000 doctoral students and 7'300 employees. For more details about the University see the dedicated web page and presentation.
Faculty of Physics
Physics and astronomy have been present at the University of Warsaw ever since it was established in 1816. But the Faculty of Physics exists as an independent unit only since 1969. The Faculty is one of the largest research and teaching centers in Poland. It consists of the Institutes of Theoretical Physics, Experimental Physics, Geophysics, the Astronomical Observatory and the Department of Mathematical Methods in Physics. The teaching staff consists of about 200 people comprising 65 full professors.
