Review of last week operation & plans for this week 20m

Weekly summary and plan for the next week :

       ------------------------

ALICE :   4 small chambers + 2 big ones tested. Campaign comes to and end.
In the coming weeks, another 4 chambers will arrive at Cern and have to be tested. During this period another                               chamber, that was already tested, will be retested inside GIF. In total a slot of one week is needed to perform the                           test on a batch of 5 chambers.

ATLAS-MM :  SM2 - module 7 installed last weeek, and now removed from the bunker. Test is over
Currently no new chamber available. We will see for next week.

sTGC Production :  return Mid-March. Chamber arrives at CERN on 18.3, to be installed same or next week.
Short HV test needed, filter 1 would be required.

sTGC : QS2  (electronics) + QS3 (HV test) still in GIF but the test is completed. Both of them will go out form the                                   bunker next week. QS3 production chamber just arrived at Cern and will be installed next                                         week. 1h test tomorrow FRI 21/03 around noon with attenuation 1.

      EP-DT2  :  no news

CMS-RPC :  after the installation of two scintillators some tests were performed, arriving to the conclusion that putting the scintillators vertical will not work (something like 2 muons/h) Than, two scintillators were installed horizontal respect to the floor with a 2m distance from each other (coincidence between scintillators 0.02 Hz). Still some improvement is possible but the test can start as soon as the new chambers arrive. Next week installation of two trolleys. One for longevity test and the other for testing the electronics in order to launch the mass production. A source scan is needed for this afternoon.

EcoGas  - last chamber installed, staying on CMS-RPC gas mixture. New gas mixture need to be commissioned and right after the test with the eco-gas mixture can be started. In the meanwhile some HF (fluoride) test will be performed. There is the need to use the GC PC during the weekend.
Otherwise : 2.2 filter for most of the week.

      CMS-GEM 1&2 : Happy

EP-DT1: No special request this week

ATLAS-RPC  : no special request for this week. Next week on WED 27/03 a new setup will be installed inside the bunker (more details in the presentation in the new request for test at GIF++)

CMS-DT MB 1&2  :  Test on the mono-tubes still on going. Preparing for the de-cabling of both chambers expected in the coming weeks and the removal planned for the 1/2 week of May. To be defined precisely duirng next weeks.

LHCb : preparation to exchange chamber.  Installing it next Wednesday.

CMS-CSC:  Continuing radiation and recovering the setups from the preparation area.
Joining source OFF period if more than 1 hour

Infrastructure & Upgrades to the Facility 10m

Improvements needed or planned for the facility.

Speakers: Giuseppe Pezzullo (CERN), Martin Richard Jaekel (CERN)

      New Items :
      ==========

      Ongoing Projects :
      =============

Correction of Irradiator Signals after power cut.
Since installation of UPS, the Irradiator signals UNSAFE after a power cut, independently if the source was ON or OFF at the time. In reality, source will always be in safe position after power cut. Power cycle controls in control room to get correct status.

      PyTIMBER :

Additional values need to be collected/republished ?
              - REMUS  - to be included in GIF Display
              - XTDV - to be included in pytimber only

      • LS2 restrictions & interventions 5m
      • Bunker Extension Project 10m

News about the ongoing bunker extension

        Bunker extension :

        ==============

Bunker layout frozen, work started already.

        Two VICs done yesterday.

Currently estimated start : Either early July or early September.  (before or after August)
If we want July, we have to push now.

      • IMPACTS for 2019 5m

Guidelines for filling in IMPACT requests

List of active IMPACT declarations : https://impact.cern.ch/impact/secure/activities/accessPoint/YDALC02-PPE154

General Guideline : One IMPACT per setup.

        • two chambers on individual supports -> 2 IMPACT declarations
        • multiple chambers swapped on same or similar support -> one IMPACT declaration
        • basically, if you need two locations, please make two IMPACT declaration (clone)

Each Setup should have IMPACT label attached with number.
Attached documents : CAD file  or  picture.
Review working hours : if your declaration includes the bunker area, please state the number of hours you want to stay INSIDE the bunker only (for RP purposes).

NEW IMPACT needed for 2019 !

      • New Announcements 5m

!!! AUL test needed on WED 13/03 !!!

In principle we are not concerned, due to the fact that are not related to our infrastructure. Anyhow, to be sure we would announce to you, like that, in case we will have a power cut, you can react as soon as possible.

      • AOB 5m

Issue with ligth.  Button near access door should enable the light for additional 2h.
We plan to keep the light over the GIF area active in the near future (change by EN-EL needed) -> NOT FEASABLE

        Locked door on Saleve side.
Proposal top remove the cylinder to avoid the guard locking the door during night times.  -> Cylinder HAS BEEN REMOVED
