Description
Many beam measurements are essential already in the first phase of the LHC
commissioning. Others become necessary only as the intensity and the number of
bunches is raised. I will review the beam measurements needed in the various phases
of the LHC commissioning, their sequence, and the tools required for performing
them. An earlier talk at Chamonix XII discussed beam measurements on the LHC flat
bottom. This presentation also addresses acceleration and collision, the priority or
order of the various measurements, as well as requirements for instruments and
timing.
