Sponsorship

ROOT Workshop organisers will provide sponsorship to a select few university students to support their participation in ROOT Workshop. The selection is competitive, and clear priority will be given to students whose abstracts have been accepted by the workshop organisers and who have not been sponsored before.

Sponsorship covers at least the reimbursement of the registration fee.

Eligibility to apply for sponsorship

In order to be eligible to apply for sponsorship:

  • at the time of application, the applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student in a university, studying or researching a subject which is related to the conference session topics;

  • the applicant should have submitted an abstract reporting on experience of using ROOT (including feedback from their fellow students or physics group) and formulating a wish-list for ROOT, which they individually intend to present as a short oral presentation in one of the special student sessions of the conference;

  • after submitting their abstract, the applicant should send an email to the organizers mentioning the ID of the abstract.

Extent and method of sponsorship

The sponsorship will cover at least the participating student’s registration fee to the conference. Students will be responsible for the cost of travel from their hometowns to the designated departure points and back, as well as for the costs of all non-sponsored meals, local transport, and other living expenses. They will also have to make their own arrangements for passports, visas, travel insurance, and medical insurance.

The organizers are happy to provide a statement of sponsorship that might help secure travel funds from the student's university.
