W.W. reported that at the CSC the participation for LIANC10 was discussed.
D.S. discussed the possibility to reduce the number of wake monitors along the main linac, which was requested to reduce cost. A factor of two might be achievable in case two structures are combined to a superstructure. A further reduction would reduce performance of beam-based alignment strategies too much und thus lead to unacceptable emittance growth.
B.J. discussed the influence of resistive wall wake fields in the beam pipes along the drive beam lattice. Due to the high beam current a large beam pipe radius is required in the long transfer lines and the turn around loops. Especially in the loops this leads to huge and strong magnets which require an enormous amount of power. A solution could be to use superferric magnets, because they would consume only 10-20% of the power. This will be described as an option in the CDR. R.C., B.J. and D.S. discussed what should be used as a baseline for the CDR. The current solution seems unfavorable. A better alignment of the chambers could be specified to reduce the impact of the wakes. This discussion will be continued.
J.P. presented a possibility for an online identification of the orbit response matrix. This would allow a permanent adaptation of the feedback controller and thus a better correction of the orbit along the main linac. To achieve this goal overlapping local orbit bumps are excited allowing the direct determination of some matrix elements. Missing elements can be interpolated due to knowledge of the system.
