Software Carpentries @CERN v2.0 (24-27 March)

• Room booked (need to shift one clash?) -> James

    • Need higher quality version of IRIS-HEP logo

    • QR code and link need updated

    • Could re-add experiment logos, but I think it might look cluttered… (could make them tiny, of course)

  • Sudhir has sent an email to SC

  • Tuesday will be very basic, optional

  • EP-SFT agreed to sponsor the coffee breaks this time round (thanks Pere!)

Alpaka Parallel Programming - Taster Session and Basic Tutorial

• Co-organised with openlab and SIDIS

• Most planning needed for first ”general” day

Training for GPU programming

• Generator WG colleagues were asking about introductions to programming on GPUs, as this is something that they are very interested in

• Graeme not aware of anything (but important that we do the whole pyramid!), but how can we help?

• LPC FNAL did a training a while ago

• Mike Sokoloff was trying to organise something for GPU training

  • Sudhir to contact Mike

General Issues and Planning

• New events into HSF lists:

  • Section on editing the HSF website has been updated: https://hepsoftwarefoundation.org/howto-website.html, specifically there are instructions on how to add new training events now

  • (Kilian: Could we simplify the templates? Body content usually just duplicates indico link and title) 

  • There is a long standing PR from Guillermo improving training school handling, but it causes strange errors when building the site

• Meeting every week?

  • Sam, Sudhir and Kilian to decide this

  • Kilian: Ok with both. Short weekly meetings might be good to keep everyone busy, but if there’s not much to do...

• C++ Training

  • Was covered last year at the ASTERICS-OBELICS International School (Astroparticle)
