The workshop is a part of the series organized by the "LHC and Beyond" NordForsk Network aiming to integrate the Nordic participation in the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and facilitate the Nordic R&D plans for the next generation of experiments beyond the LHC. The focus of this 4-days Workshop is obviously the first physics in proton-proton collisions at the LHC successfully started in 2009. It is also important that the major LHC spin-offs including medical applications (Hadron Therapy), novel computing technologies (GRID) and detector developments are proposed to be included in the programme of the 4th day of the Workshop.
This workshop is a continuation of meetings started several years ago by a group of Nordic countries with the goal to provide a platform for the joint use of the LHC infrastructure and, even more, - to look for the possible applications and future perspectives with the intention to involve young researchers on a broader scale. In particular, the talks will represent the perspectives and activities of the Nordic groups involved in both theory and experiment. In addition to that there will be talks by a few invited speakers. As for all workshops in this series we particularly encourage younger members of our community to present recent work in the field. The poster session is also foreseen.
