Short news from the ILC workshop in Beijing, Status of the IBS studies, Workplan to address the damping ring issues raised by ACE

Participants: E. Adli, B. Dalena, R. Corsini, K. Elsener, J. Esberg, A. Gerbershagen, E. Marin, M. Martini, Ö. Mete, R. Mutzner, Y. Papaphilippou, L. Rinolfi, D. Schulte, P. Skowronski, J. Snuverink, G. Sterbini, F. Stulle, A. Vivoli

D.S., L.R., Y.P. and K.E. reported on the ILC10/LCWS10 workshop in Beijing. In the beam dynamics working group attendance was quite low and half of the talks where about CLIC. Main topics in the injectors and source WG were polarized electrons and polarized positrons. A systematic breakdown study for the positron target will start soon. The damping rings WG discussed several results of CESR-TA and ATF2 which are very promissing. Collaboration becomes more problematic since man power on the ILC side has decreased and is not even sufficient to study ILC DRs. The machine detector interface WG was well attended and had good discussions but nothing really new.

A.V. presented the status of IBS simulations. The code has been improved and compared to other calculations. The results are agreeing well taking into account the many approximations and simplifications done in the different approaches. First results for the damping rings will be available soon.

Y.P. gave an update to the damping ring status. He discussed the various concerns raised by the ACE and showed the topics which still need to be addressed.
