  1. PLEASE REGISTER!
  2. Prior to the event: YOUR CONTRIBUTION
  3. Book in your agenda: DETAILED TIMETABLE  (still subject to updates)
  4. Housekeeping:  TRAVEL AND ACCOMODATION

Overview Schedule

16 Sept FORUM - Pre-event

Enjoy us for either an online welcome session or in-person dinner to kick-of the discussions of the forum. This is also an opportunity for speakers to the public event to rehearse.

17 Sept FORUM - 9:00 - 20:00 CET

We will be moving away from the traditional conference format and are inviting you to spend the day indulging in in-depth discussions. Get ready to collaborate, agree to disagree, learn and unlearn together.  Everyone takes part, whether in person or virtually.

18 Sept PUBLIC EVENT - 16:00 - 20:00 CET

This is a live production which will be recorded (à la TED). Some of you have been invited to give a talk as speakers, and the others will be seated in the audience, or connected online to take part in a Q&A. The general public will be only online and submitting questions through social media.

Status

  • As of today, about 30 of our 50 participants are planning to attend the event in person at CERN. The others will be online and most likely join us either for the morning or the afternoon sessions on 17 September due to time zone constraints.

  • You will be required to wear a mask and observe social distancing according to CERN rules at all times, regardless of vaccination or test status. We will be complying with CERN covid safety rules.

Publication

cover Machine Learning: Science and Technology (MLST) an IOP Publishing multidisciplinary open access journal, is partnering with Sparks!, a multidisciplinary event at CERN taking place September 2021.
MLST is a journal that bridges the application of machine learning across the sciences with advances in machine learning methods and theory as motivated by physical insights.
The discussions from Sparks!, a serendipity forum on innovation, will focus on the future of artificial intelligence. The result of the two-day forum will be published in MLST as a possible roadmap/set of perspectives for conceptual advances motivated by diverse insights.
