Description

Since the last decades, composite materials are widely used in the industry, particularly on high technology applications. In 2014, EP-DT started to develop its own Composite Laboratory in order to produce in-house carbon components for particle physics detectors, from prototypes to small series of high quality parts, providing support to all CERN experiments. The presentation will focus on an introduction to composite materials, the description of the composite lab (capabilities and equipment) and applications of composite at CERN (different projects and prototypes for ATLAS, CMS and others).
