Abstract:

Profile Likelihood as a tool for Discovery and Exclusion of New Physics.  We will explain the use of Profile Likelihood and its asymptotic behavior, as a tool to estimate the sensitivity or to estimate the significance of experimental analysis in discovering or excluding a new signal. Some basic terms that we will explain are test statistics, likelihood, and Asimov Data Set.
